easter

I love decorating for Easter/Spring. Almost all my decorations are from thrift stores. This basket of Ukranian eggs are not from the thrift store. The eggs have been coloured by my aunt and some by my kids when they were small. So it has to be out every Easter and every
Easter they look through them and remember when........

The table is set with thrift store stuff, even the Royal Albert dishes. The forsythia in the vase is from Dollarama. The little bunny peeking out of one of the vases is new and it is for the still unborn grandbaby....first stuffed animal for the baby.,

Easch place has a Morden's chocolate and each one represents something about the person sitting there.
The KinderSurprise basket is for after the meal,. It is fun watching the adult kids delving into the egg and putting their surprise together,

And even the kitchen has a chicken basket filled with shiny eggs.
Easter is really about the Resurection of Jesus and we celebrate that first and then have the chocolate bunny stuff too.,

Happy Easter

Cross and skyI hope everyone has a blessed Easter. Today I am going to our church with my daughter to see their Easter play. Every year they do a wonderful production.
This year it is called "The Princess Bride". The pastor gives a wonderful message after that.

Happy Easter

Today is going to be a very busy day. I am making cabbage rolls, and I usually premake (is that a word?) a lot of my food for the big dinner tomorrow. Most of my Easter decorations are out. Today I will also set the table and put the table decorations out also. A busy day but I love it. The picture above is from out coffee table last Easter. I dont have any Easter stuff on the coffee table this year because I forgot. There must be more stuff somewhere.......

thrifting

I was cleaning out stuff the other day and found some of my mom's Pyrex dishes she had. I had every intention of donating them but saw how beautiful they were, I remember all the wonderful dinners she made on the farm every Sunday and these were used to serve all the vegetables and casseroles and other wonderful food she would make. So, I decided to start a new collection.....Pyrex.  These are some that I found the other day at my favorite thrift store. Arent they just beautiful.

Look closely...a mourning dove is in the tree right in front.

Whoa!!  I feel like Rip Van Winkle....slept through summer,. fall and now it is winter again.  It looks beautiful but something is wrong with this picture. We had at least 6 cm. of snow last night....wet, heavy snow. The poor birds, the juncos and sparrows and chickadees will be o.k because I keep filling the feeders but what about the poor robins? How will they survive. I saw a mama robin up in the tree closest to my kitchen window and I am sure I heard her say "Help"...get me some worms.

weekend

Wow, what a weekend. First, on Friday I had my son and DIL, and Daughter over for supper. I made Chinese from Scratch....holy,..never again. It took me 3 hours to cut, chop, deep fry and cook. Then it was eaten in 15 minutes. It was delicious if I do say so myself (so did my kids)  but what a lot of work.
Sat. hubby and I went to the city and just poked around which is a surprise in itself because he hates shopping.
Sunday we went to a 2 hour bagpipe concert put on at Panteges Theatre. The band was from SFU. I was a bit leary about it but I really enjoyed it. They had a great MC, and the drum part was fantastic.
Quite surprised.
Sunday night my son and wife ended up in the hospital. She is due to have their first baby May 6th but I think it will be sooner . She started having pains and was feeling really weird. After doing all the tests and ultrasounds and assessments they finally send her home Monday Afternoon.  She is 1cm. dilated and 85% effaced. Baby has dropped so I dont think it will be long.  She is healthy and so is Little Bee.  I cant wait. We dont know what the sex of the baby is but I dont care. I have been buying the cutest little onesies and burp cloths and blankets and toys and.......
