I had a winter project that I started before Christmas.. my hubby and I start something and call it a winter project. The second   winter we were here he decided to redo the ensuite. Winter project. So this year I wanted to wallpaper 1 wall in our bedroom, he painted the walls and I wallpapered...winter project ...except I didnt get it done so I started it yesterday and finished it. More like a late winter project. Now we need new lamps and definitely need something over the bed. Then new carpeting and new window coverings because right now we have nothing on the windows. We had new windows installed so just kept putting it off. My project this spring and summer is to find lamps, pictures and window coverings.

Spring

Another cold day out here in the country. However, the sun is shining brightly after a few days of cloud. What a difference a sunny day makes. So I have decided if I cant have spring outside I am going to have it inside. So I went and bought some tulips...put them in a vase with some pussywillows(fake) and it feels like spring. Tomorrow I think I will go out and get some more tulips and daffodils. Gotta do something;)

blizzard

Yesterday the weather was soo mild..I think the temperature went up to +2C.  I was outside and filled up the birdfeeders. The birds were singing and the squirrels were running around eating and stuffing their cheeks.

I came downstairs to my computer room around 6 and after an hour I went back up and was absolutely shocked!!!..There was a blizzard out there, cant see across the road, whiteout blizzard. The wind was howling and stuff was flying around. Crazy, crazy weather.

Today, I decided to do some closet cleaning. I have a closet in my dining room. What can go wrong in a closet in the d.r?  Everything. I had been watching Peter Walsh on Cityline and got a little inspired. First, take everything out and spread it out on D.Table.  I had my 3 boxes ready....1 for donate, 1 for trash and 1 for keep. Here are the before and after pics. I didnt realize I had so many placemats and I never have to buy fancy paper napkins again. Amazing the stuff I had.

I was on a roll, so I decided to clean some kitchen cupboards. I emptied out all the food stuff and through out stuff that was in little bags. I found containers for all the loose stuff and threw out about 100 rolled up Safeway plastic bags. These are going to the Goodwill Store...they are happy to get them. I never use plastic bags any more.

It feels wonderful to do all that. I feel like I have really accomplished something.

One of these days I have to do that in my computer/craft room. But I will need a whole day or even a week to do that.

I love my first cup of coffee in the morning. Just pouring the cream in and watching it swirl through the dark coffee and turn it to that wonderful creamy, mocha colour. The smell of that first cup in the morning....nothing like it.

very pregnant DIL



Well, last night hubby and I went to my daughter's home. My son and my very pregnant DIL were also there. It was a "memory" supper. They remembered when I used to make fried ground beef, mashed potatoes and peas. So they decided to make a much better version of that meal and believe me it was amazing. Instead of plain old fried ground beef my son made this amazing, amazing meatloaf. My daughter made cheesy, garlic mashed potatoes and peas with bacon. I always make way too much and always have so of course we had tons of peas . And for dessert, (a big surprise), McCain frozen chocolate cake. So much fun, so many laughs reminiscing about the times when it was just the 3 of us living in the Maples. I loved that house and even though times were a little hard we had a great time and many memories were made there.

So today my kids are making me dinner, well, really it is my son that is making dinner for me and hubby. We are going to my daughter's house and he is apparently cooking supper (my son). Have no idea what is on the menu, big surprise. I dont really care it is just nice to be with them all. Will take lots of pictures.

COLD!!! Birthday

It is way too cold. February should be a little bit warmer. I am getting a little down from all this cold. The snow I could handle but the COLD, awful. Well, today is my birthday, and I have nothing special planned. My hubby forgot I think, my friend B. did call and sing me happy birthday. Every year I say it isnt important any more....just another day. But when the time comes I do get excited when someone calls to wish me a happy birthday. Oh, well, the day isnt over yet. I am going to sub this afternoon. Then going out for dinner with a couple of friends and then back to school to watch a movie.
Yesterday I went to the dentist after 6 years of not being at the dentist. Yes, you read it right, 6 years. I was a little embarassed and the only reason I went yesterday was because a piece of my back molar broke off while we were in Mesa. After all the cleaning and xrays I was quite surprised (and I think the dentist was too) that I really didnt have any work except for the broken one. I guess I got my dad's genes in the tooth dept.  He had good teeth.
But I have no dental insurance so it will be expensive.
