thrifting thursday

cute windchime and I have the perfect place for it.

I love this. I bought 2 of them. I am going to paint the outside and leave the little mirror in the middle. I think a cute cup and saucer glued on where the candle should be will then make a cute birdfeeder or bird bath for one.

I will use the shade on a little lamp in the bedroom. The color is perfect.  The two little deer look kind of oriental but they already have a place in my living room.

I loved this...a picture of my mom in the heart will look perfect.
I stopped at my favorite thrift store. I had a whole bunch of stuff to donate and I was determined I wasn't going in after I dropped my stuff off but my car just stopped in front of the door, so I had to go in. Here are some of the "treasures" I found. I am definitely thinking spring and cant wait to put more things in the garden.

cold

Oh, when will it be spring??? I was looking through my pictures from last spring and just can't seem to wait for this cold to go away. I am not usually so impatient for the snow to go because after so many years of living in this province I know it all takes time . I think my impatience is due to the fact we went to Arizona and it was wonderful to be in the warm place even if for a short time.

Aren't these lilacs beautiful....I can smell their sweet fragrance just looking at them. And my poppies are amazing. They last for a short time but I make sure I really look at them every time I go our my front door. They are truly beautiful.

birthday

A friend of mine had her big 60 birthday while we were away in Arizona, so I missed it. This friend loves, loves, loves monarch butterflies (or any kind of butterflies). So the obvious thing to buy her is something with butterflies. I was sitting in my craft room the other day and thought maybe I could paint something with a butterfly on it, so I started looking through all my "stuff". I found this neat papier mache round box and it has a rusty looking metal lid. Well, I started drawing a butterfly on the lid (had to redo it several times before I was happy with it. It took me all day yesterday but I am kind of finished. However, now that I look at these pictures, I think I need to do something to the bottom half of the box. Hmmm....

Here is what it looks like right now.

arizona

This is the view from our hotel room every sunset. We would sit around the pool and have our cool drinks and watch the sun go down. We would do the tourist thing all day and come back to our room around 4 and just relax for the evening.

Everyone had orange, grapefruit and lemon trees in their backyards. I even got to pick some. The grapefruit were the best. I ate them like oranges...sweet, sweet , sweet.

These huge cactus were everywhere. As we were driving into Mesa, about 10 miles away these giants were growing everywhere. On top of the mountain, down the sides of the mountain and at the base....just thousands and thousands of them. They were all over the town of mesa too. Everyone had them in their yards.
It is a beautiful place...we are going back for a month next year.

arizona

We just got back from Mesa...what a fabulous trip., We left here on Feb. 2 and just came back. We have definitely decided to go back next year for a month. But I am definitely not living in a hotel for a month...maybe a suite or we might rent a trailer in one of those RV parks. or 55+ retirement villages. But we are going back in Feb.
